Rita Anne Iero (1939-2015)

Serenity Funeral Home mourns the loss of a remarkable woman, Rita Anne Iero, who passed away on April 8th, 2015. Born in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio to Theodore and Rita McClintock, Rita grew up in North Canton, where she spent most of her childhood surrounded by her loving family.

Rita's early life was marked by a love for learning, which led her to attend college at Mount Union and later enter nursing school at Aultman Hospital. Her compassionate nature towards her younger siblings, Ted and Mary Jane, would ultimately inspire her career in nursing. Rita's dedication to her work was evident in the countless lives she touched during her time as a nurse.

In 1960, Rita met the love of her life, Domenico Iero from Reggio Calabria, Italy. The couple spent their first year of marriage in Italy, where Rita learned the language and mastered the art of Italian cooking from her beloved Nonna. Upon returning to America, Rita and Domenico settled down in Canton, Ohio, raising four children together.

Throughout her life, Rita was known for her strong sense of family and community. Her kindness, generosity, and warm heart made her a cherished member of her community. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we take comfort in the countless memories she left behind. Rest in peace, dear Rita. Your legacy will live on through the lives you touched.

The Iero family has entrusted Serenity Funeral Home with caring for their loved one. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
